Bake-O's 60 - Egomaniacs 22
Where the hell did this come from? Bake-O's, those now 2-7 denziens of the LIMB cellar (would that be called the root?), rack up a UFFL record 60 points! Olandis Gary (leader of the Denver JV) and Errict Rhett (didn't he retire in 1995, or has it just seemed that way?) lead the charge in a classic Wishbone game and a (however short-lived) return to glory for Dan Shim. There's something to be said for being a purist. :-) Ego put up a decent fight, all things considered; Ricky Watters finally scored and 22 points would have won three of the other five games. Kudos to the root boys, though. Have a root beer Dan, and I'll be rooting for you from here on out. Sorry...just rooting around in my pun book. OK, I'll stop now.

Lethal Weapon 4 33 - Renegade Rebels 23
18 points on Monday Night were the difference for LW4 who won despite starting "Rashan (Tommy? 'Sheeheeeee!')" at RB again. Sorry, but I think that's an even sillier name than "Tshimanga". Not that that should stop him from starting for either the Chiefs or for Ted. 2 TDR's by Antowain Smith and 3 TDP's from Jeff George lead the way to 5-4 for Ted, who remains a game out of first place in LIMB. The Rebs fall to 4-5 but are still in second place in ORRS only because neither Rod nor Joe V. has any luck. A great game by Mark (well, I was playing Atlanta) Brunell is wasted when Olindo Mare proves to be mortal after all. RR should get well on TWC next week though.

Munchen Mavericks 30 - Solvent Drag 21
Tennessee's shutout loss affected both teams in this matchup, but the Drag took the biggest hit (smoking humor, get it?) as Al Del Greco is shut out for the first time since 1934. If not for Emmitt Smith, it would have been even worse. The Drag lose their fourth in a row to fall to 3-6. The Mavs are 6-3 and atop LIMB, the league scoring leader at K. A strong game by Mr. Hollis and 2 TDR's for the Bus make up for Air McNair's ozone (pollution humor, get it?) and the Mavs get the duke. Next up for the Drag is Bake-O's. Given these teams' various performances this year this one will end somewhere between 5-4 and 63-62. Maybe I should have made it GOTW. Nah.

Outlaws 20 - The Windmilling Chaos 16
You know, if we'd changed the scoring system I'd've won this week. :-) The amazing TWC D, '99 version, hold Outlaws to a mere 20 points, but the sucky TWC offense, '99 version, cannot convert. It's deja vu all over again. Outlaws raise their record to 8-1 and continue their roll toward the Fantasy Bowl. TWC drops to 3-6 and I begin comparing the virtues of Ron Dayne vs. Thomas Jones. A solid all around game for Outlaws -- no one scored more than 7 points, but lots of people scored. Oh...I just realized that Outlaws can clinch the ORRS division title this week. An OUT win and a RR loss give Jim a 5 game lead with 4 to go. TWC...well...I hope Griese can play this week... Maybe I'll draft Drew Brees instead. Or Drew Carey...really, who would notice? Oh, and Parkview lost last week. Figures.

Seattle Blur 26 - Iron Men 13
Seattle Blur win their fifth in a row to raise to 8-1 and a two-game lead in TESS. Iron Men did not. In fact, they have now lost four in a row and only Bake-O's pre-this week performance are keeping IM out of the root. The Blur continue to get a solid performace from their D (not up to TWC standards, Fred, but they're ok) :-) as Kurt Warner leads the offensive charge. Iron Men are still starting only one TE as Brett Favre continues (just barely) to lead their offensive charge. Sorry Brian, but you've scored the same number of points as I have, and I know my team sucks, so I just have to assume the same for yours. :-) Fred gets Ted and the Weapon this week in the Battle of Guys Whose Nicknames End in 'ed'...could be a good one.

Sea Stags 36 - Rage 26
Rage can't win Jon Kitna's first start of the season and Sea Stags win their fourth in a row behind UGA's own John Kasay to remain two games behind the Blur, ready to pounce on 'em and gnaw on their ankles like a rabid wildebeest at the first opportunity. Which might not be this week...Karl has Outlaws waiting by that house over there to gun him down. That's what they do to rabid wildebeests, you know. They don't want them coming into town and biting people. Sorta like in "To Kill A Mockingbird" when Mr. Finch shot that mad dog, remember? Hell of a book. The movie was pretty good too. Gregory Peck won an Oscar I think. Did you know Harper Lee never wrote anything else? Least I don't think she did. Hm. If you know for sure, let me know.
