Bake-O's 27 - The Windmilling Chaos 14
The game of the week was won by the Denver Broncos. Dan's Broncos fetish saved his bacon this week as none of his non-Broncos scored, and Bake-O's open defense of their back-to-back championships with a victory. TWC experienced a return to last year, offensvely. They better hope their defense also returns to 1997 vintage or it might be a long season.

Egomaniacs 17 - Lethal Weapon 4 3
Unlike last season, Lethal Weapon 4 did not burst quickly from the starters' block. In fact, had Peyton Manning not thrown a TDP on the last play of his game, we would have seen the first shutout in UFFL history. Egomaniacs got the win, behind new QB Steve Young, his three TDP's, and very little else. It was good enough. Scary.

Iron Men 40 - Outlaws 22
Iron Men hop on the back of Garrison Hearst and go 96 yards to defeat Outlaws, who continue their 1997 tradition of not catching a break. A good consistent game for the Outlaw lineup (not a 1997 tradition) falls by the boards behind the great games of Hearst and QB Brett Favre (who had two TDP, one +50). In a fascinating sidebar, Outlaw QB Neil O'Donnell scored his first fantasy points since Wk 16, 1993.

Rage 39 - Seattle Blur 39
Figures. The first Mel Gray game of the year is a tie. Sigh. It was exciting, though, featuring two TDR's by a QB, a TDP by a RB, and a +50 TDC. These two teams, who were hot late last year, show that they could give us an exciting RIOS Division race this year.

Sea Stags 23 - Munchen Mavericks 9
Perhaps the return of the vaunted Sea Stags WR corps? The addition of Randy Moss may just offset the crippling loss of Sterling Sharpe to injury and retirement, as Moss and his Viking teammate Cris Carter combined for four TDC's to lead the Sea Stags attack. The Mavs showed nothing beyond Mike Hollis and John Elway. They'll need more than that to compete against the Rebels in SMRS.

Solvent Drag 23 - Renegade Rebels 18
RENEGADE REBELS LOSE!!! Is the dynasty crumbling at last? Probably not. George, Martin, and Sanders will not get only 6 pts total every week. Still, there is hope for the rest of the league, especially for Drag, who are coming off a tough year in '97. This was a big win for Rod's undersized roster guys. Al Del Greco leads the way. Duh.
