Week 8 Results

Karl said it best: "Definitely a week of haves and have nots." Three teams scored more than thirty points as five of the six losers (and one of the winners!) totaled less than fifteen.

Bake-O's 22 - Lethal Weapon 4 15
This battle of high scorers saw both stumble a bit in the scoring department. Ted's guys suffered a bit more, though and drop below .500 for the year. Bake-O's rode a strong 14 pt performance by Terrell Davis to their fifth victory in a row and fend off TWC's challenge at the top of BITE with a 6-1-1 record.

Munchen Mavericks 14 - Iron Men 8
Neil O'Donnell's failure to move the Jets' offense vs. New England proved fatal to Iron Men, who lose -- in Chip Lohmiller fashion -- their fifth game in a row to fall to 2-5-1 on the season. Munchen Mavericks get an indifferent effort from an offense suddenly gone slightly cold but remain atop LMON with the win.

Renegade Rebels 44 - Egomaniacs 24
Poor Knaak. He finally gets points from Emmitt. Jamal throws a TDP. Christie kicks three FG's. He gets his highest point total of the season -- and what happens? He meets the hottest team in the league, a Rebel team that is finally on track after a rough start. RR gets their fourth win in a row behind points from all seven starters, scoring 30+ for the third week in a row and winning Mel Gray honors for the second.

Sea Stags 31 - Outlaws 3
Outlaws busted out last week but were recaptured by the Sea Stags. James Stewart didn't do it again. In fact, the Outlaws offense only managed three points -- the fourth time this year they've scored in single digits, and they did it in reverse Lohmiller (maybe Rodney Peete?) fashion -- only QB Kerry Collins scored. Meanwhile, Karl was using a solid game from Bledsoe and the latest long run by Nappy Kaufman to move into second place in SLRS. As for the Outlaws, take heart -- the Slough's offense is even worse...

Seattle Blur 40 - Liquid Ham 14
This week's bustworthy team: Seattle Blur. Scoring forty behind Karim Abdul-Jabbar's three TDR's and a strong showing by Mark Brunell, the Blur move to 4-4 on the season and begin to mount a threat on the horizon in the SLRS race. The Ham, moving the other way, fall to 3-4-1. There is no joy in Joeville.

The Windmilling Chaos 26 - Necrotic Slough 7
The TWC defense continues to amaze. In eight games they have surrendered only 93 points -- a record pace. This week they stymied the hapless Slough (sorry about that Rod), holding them to a mere seven. Terry "I just love playing Atlanta" Kirby led the way with a TWC season-high 14 points.
