Week 5 Results

Wishbone offenses are not faring too well this season. With the exception of LW4 (who are hot, being driven by Jeff George and three big RB's), wishbone teams are struggling to score from the RB positions. Especially egregious are the states of Egomaniacs (Ricky Watters -- 1 TDR and Emmitt Smith -- 0 TDR) and Renegade Rebels (Barry Sanders only has 2 TDC), traditional offensive machines who are struggling this year. Leaguewide, scoring was down this week as well, after last week's explosion of points. Then again, the Patriots did have their bye week...

Bake-O's 21 - Necrotic Slough 13
The rematch of Fantasy Bowl V found two teams moving in opposite directions. After scoring 50 last week, the Danmen remained winners, although they pulled up lame as Jason Elam's hip went *piff*. It mattered not, however, as they were playing the Necrotic Slough, who continue to live up to their name as they fall to a pitiful 0-4-1. Interesting Fact: Al Del Greco has 31 of NS's 64 points, nearly 50 percent. No other team is as dependent upon one player.

Lethal Weapon 4 32 - Outlaws 20
Lethal Weapon 4 fell off as well, but not as dramatically, as they bring home first place money for the second week in a row. Jeff George's incredible season continues with 4 TDP's as he takes over the league scoring lead. Outlaws put up the good fight however, getting significant points from their WR's for the first time this season.

Liquid Ham 28 - Egomaniacs 14
Liquid Ham continue to get consistent scoring throughout the lineup, hearing from five of their seven starters this week, as they pummel the hapless Egoboys, who fall to 0-5-0. Next week comes the battle for Peyton Manning: Egomaniacs vs. Necrotic Slough. Hide the women and children, folks, it's gonna be ugly!

Renegade Rebels 17 - Iron Men 12
Despite a struggling offense, RR manage to come back due to a strong Monday performance by Steve Young. Bill's RB's have yet to score consistenly, and his point total is down because of it. Iron Men score their fewest points of the year and -- Bonehead! -- Garrison Heasrt and his 6 points sat on the bench and watched helplessly as the Tin Men rust away to a 2-2-1 record.

Sea Stags 30 - Munchen Mavericks 24
Sea Stags didn't seem to miss Drew Bledsoe at all as they cruised to a victory over the previously undefeated Mavs. Brad Johnson filled in ably and the re-emergence of the fabled Sea Stags WR corps (not to mention the absence of the Mavs' WR's -- what, Jeff George has 4 TDP, and none are to Tim Brown?!?) allowed SS to overcome a stellar performance by John Elway and get the "W".

The Windmilling Chaos 18 - Seattle Blur 13
In the Monday Night Comeback From Hell, TWC got a TDR from Terry Kirby with 2:50 or something like that left in the game to pull out the win over Seattle Blur and move to a UFFL-best 4-1-0. A game-time decision by Fred to eschew the Run-and-Shoot and stay with the Standard offense proved fateful as James Jett and Joey Galloway would have brought him nine more points and the win -- assuming that TWC had still decided not to start Gus Frerotte (and his 3 TDP's)...this is a really confusing game sometimes, isn't it?
