2nd Place: Outlaws - 29 pts

It was "Owners On Crack Week" in the UFFL as Dan started a WR on bye, Knaak presumably (I never did find out for sure what he meant) tried to start either my backup TE or one of his own backup RB's at TE, and Rod tried to trade Karl the same draft pick he'd already traded him last year. As a result, three teams had different starting TE's at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday than they'd had at 11:00 a.m., and Shim won his game anyway, even with Bye Boy Thrash at WR. It's PLAYOFF FEVER, baby! Or maybe it's just a bunch of Boneheads. Maybe I need a new trophy graphic that looks like a skull or a crack pipe to put by teams on days like this. I'd say Dan had the Answer to the problem but he was a major part of it, thereby causing him to recuse himself from the debate. I learned the word "recuse" on the news this week (it was also "Democracy On Crack Week" in Florida, in case you haven't been paying attention). Besides, I did the "Answer" bit last week. It's so over.

Bake-O's 19 - Rage 18
I hesitate to call this the Monday Night Comeback of the Week®, but I have to, I suppose. I hesitate to call it that simply because I knew it was going to happen. Rage was ahead 18-4 after Sunday, and had Rod Smith going on MNF, but Shim had Terrell Davis (who is back, BTW) and Jason Elam going. I just liked his chances. When Griese got dinged, I figured it was even more in the bag. Still, they dragged it out, didn't they? I actually found myself rooting for Elam to kick a FG at the end - it's quite shocking, actually, for a child of the Big Orange to admit to pulling for a Brookwood Bronco, but I was tied with Rage in the standings so I needed them to lose. Sorry, Joe. Maybe Bill will give you a recount if you ask really nicely. Or take him to court. Of course, James Thrash was on bye and Trent Dilfer and Qadry Ismail were on the Bake-O bench shaking their heads in amazement. It coulda been a little easier. But then Dan wouldn't be Dan, and this might not be the crapshoot that it really is. Ironic that Joe V loses the game that teaches us that.

Egomaniacs 25 - Munchen Mavericks 18
Daunte Culpepper leaped into the midst of the UFFL scoring race with a big 15 point performance - 3 TDP's and a TDR. Matt Stover currently has a two point lead, but the Raven bye in Week 14 should narrow it down to a Culpepper vs. Longwell kluge for the title. EGO win and keep pace with TWC in TOBE and in the league. The Mavs? Well, they've lost five in a row, they're at the bottom of the rankings and they play Rage this week. They can play spoiler, but can do precious little else without a lot of help. Egomaniacs get TWC in what will likely be the Week 12 GotW. I'll decide in a few minutes. You'll see when you get there. Knaak didn't get any points from his TE after all, so I guess it didn't matter in the end who started there. Hell, he could've started Dave Casper. He didn't score this week, either.

Lethal Weapon 4 22 - MacBain's 69th Highalnders 11
In the first UFFL game since the 1993 LW4-42nd Airborne tussles (both won by 42nd, oddly enough, in their 3-13 disaster area of a season) to feature two teams with numbers in their names, MacBain saw the collapse of their running game and the rise of Miami's running game doom their chances. Lamar Smith good, Jay Fieldler who? Meanwhile, Da Wep got TDC's from both RB's and both WR's and stay alive in the race for LRMS glory despite being below .500. That's right...the first place teams in LRMS right now (RAGE and LW4 are tied) are below .500. That's pretty ooey. For what it's worth, 8-6-0 is the worst record in UFFL history to win a division. Rage can match that by winning out. The best LW4 can finish is 7-5-2. I seriously doubt either team will win out and the Stags are lurking about only a half game behind. Looks like there will be a new worst best this year. Can you say "UFFL Norris"?

Outlaws 29 - Iron Men 11
Iron Men return to normalcy with a thud and see their three game win streak end. Meanwhile, Outlaws win their second in a row and maintain the Number One Ranking due to their previous victory over Seattle Blur. Do you realize all four teams in TOBE have won two games in a row? I think that's pretty cool. I guess if LRMS is UFFL Norris, that makes TOBE UFFL Patrick. Wasn't that the one that had the Rangers and Canadiens and Bruins and Flyers in it? Or am I wrong? I was always so confused by the way the NHL used to name their divisions, although I did think Smythe was a cool name for a division. Pointless Trivia Contest...what was the other division, and what were the two conferences called? First correct answer gets a cookie. By the way, kudos to Martin Gramatica, who had two +50 FG's for the second time this year. I thought Janikowski was supposed to be that guy. I mean, he's the Polish Rifle! Actually, I think that was Ron Jaworski...never mind. Outlaws vs. Bake-O's in Wk 12 with a possible TOBE title in the offing for Outlaws.

Seattle Blur 34 - Sea Stags 22
Speaking of a return to normalcy, it's so good to see Karl losing Mel games again. All is right with the world if Outlaws wins the Mel Game or if Sea Stags loses it. Actually, this is the eighth Mel game this year out of eleven that has featured either a SS loss or an OUT win (including Wk 7 when OUT beat SS!). That doesn't count Week 9, when SS actually won the Mel game. Anyway, the Blur ride 4 TDPs and a TDR from Trent (I'll get my money from someone next spring) Green and 2 TDR's from Lamar Smith to the win and are now 9-1 lifetime vs. the Stags and keep pace with Outlaws for the No. 1 seed and this a really ugly run-on sentence that is ending now. SMIR is clinchable this weekend for the Blur with a win over Iron Men. Go figure. The Stags get LW4 in a LRMS showdown of epic proportion (as epic as LRMS gets, anyway).

The Windmilling Chaos 27 - Renegade Rebels 23
I've been waiting all year for someone to draft Tim Seder. Finally, Carrier does, then doesn't start him, and the guy scores a touchdown and Renegade Rebels lose by four points. Who knew? Then again, if Ricky Williams hadn't broken his ankle, who knows what might have happened? Then again, if Brian Griese hadn't blown a shoulder it might have been worse. Both these teams got bit by the injury bug this week and it could affect them down the stretch drive. Both teams are in position for big wild-card runs and will take all the points they can get the last three weeks of the season (and beyond). Ryan Longwell scored 12 points and is poised to become TWC's first 100-point scoring player next week when TWC gets EGO in Week 12 in a game that could settle both second place in TOBE as well as the No. 1 wild card seed. The Rebs get MacBain and hope to stay in the hunt as well. If Jamal Lewis can produce, they should have no problems.
