Iron Men 30 - Bake-O's 12 |
---|
I was all set to take Brian to task for leaving Corey Dillon on the bench then lo and behold, he actually wins anyway! He cleverly kept Sammy Morris off of my roster and went on to post his second win of the year. Iron Men are 2-6 but Rod's win keeps IM in the SMIR cellar. Lots of good points all around offset the goose-egg at QB. Check out my K, Brian; I feel your pain. Bake-O's, ironically, got all its game from the QB position...or may as well have. They tumble to the bottom of a tightly packed TOBE. With the Blur on the horizon it doesn't look to get any better any time soon for the Shims. Iron Men get the Wep next week in a game that is suddenly looking a lot more interesting than it was a week ago. |

Lethal Weapon 4 35 - Egomaniacs 23 |
---|
Speaking of Da Wep, they return to their winning ways this week with a thrashing of the Knaaks. Both teams were QB/K-heavy - Peyton Manning leading the way with his two +50 TDP's. Daunte Culpepper moved into contention in the UFFL scoring race with his ten points. Even with the win LW4 stay in the LRMS cellar - for what it's worth - there's a very hotly contested race going on right now in that division, as Karl so astutely pointed out earlier this week. EGO can't get ahead of TWC in TOBE. So you know they really must suck. :-) Next week Ego gets Sea Stags in the Fred By Proxy Battle - Fred's Old Trading Buddy (Karl) vs. Fred's Nemesis (Knaak). |

MacBain's 69th Highlanders 37 - Munchen Mavericks 22 |
---|
The Scottish Drum-Beaters play a tattoo on the Mavs behind +50 TD's from Johnson and Wheatley. Note Pete the Ram starting at K in place of Al The Greek. A watershed day for the Urns? Probably not; Wilkins will be back soon enough and Stoyo will go the way of the dodo in St. Louis. The Macs keep their pace ahead of IM in SMIR. The Mavs get a so-so game, but diminished returns in SF prove costly - and who knew we'd be eight games into the season with 0 TDR's from McNair? Certainly not Brett, I can tell you. Mavs vs. Rebs next week in the renewal of the UFFL's most lopsided rivalry - currently 12-2 in favor of the Rebs. The Mavs won last year, though, so they're on a StreakQuest. |

Outlaws 54 - Seattle Blur 41 |
---|
What the heck happened here? The second highest scoring game in UFFL history (the highest was SS 50, LW4 49 (99 pts total) in Wk 1, 1994), that's what. Imagine what would have happened if Warner and Wilkins had been up to snuff. Or if either of these teams had a decent TE. As it is, Jim had 20 pts worth of James Stewart on the bench. It didn't matter though, and Outlaws win the Mel Game for the second week in a row and seize the Number One UFFL Ranking form the Blur. Lots of +50's in this game - two FG's for OUT, one run and two catches for SB. Not just the Game of the Week, but so far the Game of the Year. Talk about your anticlimaxes - SB gets Bake-O's next week, and Outlaws get MacBain. Back to the grind... |

Renegade Rebels 34 - Rage 9 |
---|
Renegade Rebels pound Rage but good. Ricky Williams finally starts and Olindo Mare finally does something just as Tampa's offense forgets the bye week is over and Baltimore can't even score FG's. Poor Joe. He tries so hard. He knows, though. He knows. This game was notable too for the inclusion of the names "Az Hakim" and "Itula Mili" in the starting lineups, two of my favorite names in the league. "Tshimanga" is still the best, though. Rage gets to take out their frustrations on TWC next week. Like I need that... Oh, and with the injuries in St. Looey Matt Stover takes over the UFFL scoring lead. Gratz! |
RENEGADE REBELS 34 RAGE 9 ============================= ============================= QB Donovan McNabb 3 QB Shaun King 0 RB Eddie George 0 RB Mike Alstott 0 RB Ricky Williams 18 RB Fred Taylor 0 WR Marcus Robinson 0 WR Az-zahir Hakim 0 WR Frank Sanders 0 WR Rod Smith 3 TE Itula Mili Vanili 0 TE Wesley Walls 0 K Olindo Mare 13 K Matt Stover 6 |
Sea Stags 27 - The Windmilling Chaos 13 |
---|
Well, Stags don't lose the Mel game, and they break their four game losing streak when TWC can't recover from the Packer bye and Cardinal ineptitude. Szymanski's grabbing of Sammy Morris didn't help, either. The Stags got nothing from Blake at QB - figures, the one week Bledsoe does something he's on the bench. Of course, I can say the same about Wayne Chrebet. I hate this game. Then again, I've never been good at shooting craps so go figure. Thanks to tiebreakers Sea Stags rise to the second spot in LRMS, and TWC maintains the same spot in TOBE. Still in position...could be an interesting second half of the seaason all around the league. Stay tuned. |
