Bake-O's 17 - Munchen Mavericks 17
All I have to say is this: Steve McNair. I'd say more but I hate ties and reporting on them makes me sad. But then, you knew that.

Lethal Weapon 4 46 - Renegade Rebels 28
Well, here we go again. Every year LW4 has that one stretch where they score 40 points a week. Then they don't any more. Kinda like TWC way back in the day, only Chris Miller isn't involved in any way. But Tiki Barber is, which is a much more enjoyable name to say. Just say it: "Tiki". A friend of mine has a cat named Tiki. Anyway, Peyton Manning and Torry Holt almost won this one single-handedly and Ted gets his first win of the year, the Mel, and the highest score in the league thus far in the new millenium (but not really, if you're one of those who subscribes to the "2001 begins the millenium" theory - personally, I don't really care.). The Rebs acquitted themselves admirably, but sank under the weight of GotW expectation and fall to 2-2 on the season. Next week: Bill vs. Karl in the Battle of Whatever-town-it-was-they-grew-up-in. Kinda neat how there's a "Battle" of some sort every week, isn't there? Almost makes me want to draft Arnaz Battle next year. If he's in the NFL, of course. He wouldn't do me much good otherwise. Of course, he might not do me any good anyway - the Bengals might draft him...heh.

MacBain's 69th Highlanders 38 - Sea Stags 14
The Rowdy Scots do it again, putting a sleeper on the Sea Stags to knock them from the ranks of the unbeaten. Of course, Karl might say he lost because three of his top players were on bye. Uh-uh. Marshall Faulk was playing the Falcons. Bye weeks are no excuse in that circumstance. It's not my fault that the Falcons secondary is slow. Better luck next week, sir. The Highlanders did amazingly well, scoring a lot of points behind Tyrone Wheatus ("I'm just a teenage tailback, baybee" (sorry)) and Al The Greek. Only David The "Self Rising" Flour and Kevin "I Blew Out My Knee On Wednesday" Dyson failed to tally for the Mighty Macs, making Rod a happy guy and a winner for the second time in 2000. Hey Rod, is the drum you play a bodhran? I was going to make a bodhran-related comment back there, but didn't want to speak in error. Just curious. Maybe "Elastic Bodhran" or something would be a good next name for your team.

Outlaws 26 - Rage 19
Outlaws win their third in a row with a somewhat spiffelous effort...no player scored in double figires. A rather blah game for both sides, actually. This game produced the closest thing this week had to a Monday Night Comeback of the Week® as the late TDR by Edgerrin James put Outlaws back ahead of Seattle Blur in the overall UFFL Points Scored This Season standings. Congratulations to Jim on a fine effort and to Edgerrin for an impressive run. Joe gets lucky - I was all ready to tweak him for starting Kitna when he goes and has a decent game. Joe V, the man with the personnel karma! Outlaws go on to face the Mavs in Week 5, and Rage get to feast on, I mean play, Iron Men. Sorry, Brian!

The Windmilling Chaos 26 - Iron Men 16
TWC gets the win in a kicker game - Longwell vs. Nedney. The rest of the teams were largely superfluous, even though TWC finally got points from a RB (yeah!)! Iron Men fall to 0-4 and are in trouble next week, as I mentioned above. A close game (but not a win, alas) was in Brian's grasp, but Favre and Schroeder and their +50 TD Hookup and the 12 points it represented were on the bench. The funny part is, I went to the Falcons game and thus, didn't get the lineups until late Sunday night. I saw the highlights of the Favre-Schroeder thing and knew I was in deep poodoo. Then I saw the lineups and heaved a sigh of relief. A tough week for the Szy Guys (I know it doesn't really rhyme, but it looks like it should and "Szy" looks cool so I wrote it anyway), and who knows what will happen next. TWC are 2-2 and sort of in the mix. The Blur next week could change all that...who are the Rams playing?
