Bake-O's 27 - Outlaws 21 |
---|
Outlaws begin their quest to prove that last year wasn't a fluke by losing to Bake-O's...um... Fred Beasley's out-of-nowhere 12 points joined with Jason "I don't play for Knaak" Elam's business-as-usual 12 to lead Bake-O's to the Opening Day victory. Dan couldn't have been happy to see Terrell on the sidelines Monday night getting his ankle worked on, though. Outlaws had a good effort, but Ike Bruce was the only Ram not to get in on the fun Monday night, thus Outlaws start the year 0-1. |

Lethal Weapon 4 21 - Sea Stags 21 |

Week 1 sister-kisser. Ugh. Marshall Faulk. Tiki Barber on the bench (say it ain't so, Fred!). I can't work with this. Can we get a rules change for a tie-breaker? |

Rage 37 - Munchen Mavericks 12 |
---|
Rage start the 2000 campaign off kinda limply, eking out only 37 points with Az Hakim languishing on the bench. Will they maintain the fast start? You know, they're on pace to score 518 points this year. That's a lot more than Outlaws scored last year. Then again, Mike Alstott's probably not going to score 26 TD's, so they probably won't get there. Oh well, at least you got the Mel this week, Joe V. Revel in it now, for TWC awaits you in Week 9! The Mavs get the Chip Lohmiller effort from Mike Hollis. They probably won't score 518 points either. Go figure. |

Renegade Rebels 29 - MacBain's 69th Highlanders 16 |
---|
Renegade Rebels begin the year in high style with their annual pasting of Rod's guys. Olindo Mare led the way, as only a good kicker can do (see MacBain, Al Del Greco, for reference) and the Rebs get the duke. Strong games from Eddie George and Curtis Martin give hope for the future. The injury to Curtis Martin gives them not so much. Then again, maybe he's ok. I don't know that right now cuz I'm not on-line. And I'm not going to change this after I find out, either. |

Seattle Blur 23 - Iron Men 13 |
---|
Seattle Blur start the defense of their Fantasy Bowl title with a piddly 10 point victory over an Iron Men team that seemed a little rusty (get it?). Only Brett Favre's TDP kept Steve Christie from a Hollisesque Lohmillerdom. The Blur attack was not led by former 'Hoo Thomas Jones (0 pts), but rather by the incomparable Kurt Warner, whose 15 points worth of actions won this game for the Blur. If he has another year like last year, we can all just go home and forget about it. Unless Jamal Anderson stays healthy, then watch out for TWC! Yeah! |

The Windmilling Chaos 19 - Egomaniacs 18 |
---|
The Battle of Guys Who Live Near Athens never happened because I don't live in Winder any more, but it turned out to be a real barnburner anyway. Knaak got 18 improbable points from a QB with 3 TDR's, then got nothing else and had to watch as the TWC legions marched implacably closer and closer and finally passed him on a late TDC by Joey Galloway. I've wanted Galloway for years and now you know why - he beats Bill Knaak then blows out his knee!!! Stay tuned for Round Two in Week 12! |
